Fall
Gentle reminder
A cozy fall morning
Skidding leaves whirl, hesitate, then flush past
The warmth of the sun less today, hinting at its soon departure
Gentle the breezes, moving stealthy through flimsy branches
Surprising me, a cool gust kisses my cheek
As I stand observing feather and beak, preparing for its next winter venture.
With the passing of season, memories emerge
The echo of young voices split the sacred silence of morn
Older, wiser, I linger with and hold dear past images
Flurries skipping ‘round their toes, pumpkins in hand, smiles, giggles
A time I wasn’t worn;
Bless who they were
Who I was
As I greet an ancient season anew
Nodding to others who pass with common cast
Welcome, fall, come.
Spin a new tale
Once more, to remind me of them
Of me
Of you.
